Choosing units for model forecasts#
Text units and the units you want, and SMSWeather saves them for your number. Every model forecast you ask for after that uses them.
| Text | Units |
|---|---|
units kmh C |
Wind in km/h, temperature in °C |
units mph |
Wind in mph. Temperature stays as it was. |
units metric |
km/h and °C |
units reset |
Back to knots and °F |
Wind can be kt, mph, kmh or ms (metres per second), and temperature F or C.
Units are saved for the number you text from. A phone and a satellite messenger are different numbers, so set units on each one you use.
The first line of a model forecast always says which units it’s in, like GFS kmh/C.
Checking your units#
Text units on its own to see what your number gets:
Your units: wind kt, temperature F (the default). These are for model forecasts; NOAA forecasts come as NWS writes them. ...Units for one forecast#
To use other units for a single forecast without changing your saved ones, put them in the request, like gfs uganikbay mph or best uganikbay C. Units in a request win over saved ones.
